CW2 Allman

I was kind of at a loss of what to blog about lately until I got a very special call from my husband yesterday and I couldn't wait to spread the news.

There have been several occasions that Jason has called with news that affected our lives in a big way (such as we are moving to KY, we are moving to AL, I got into flight school, we are moving to TX, I am deploying in July.) Needless to say I was a little nervous when I got a message from him telling me to skype him about something important but "kind of cool".

My mind first went to the best scenario I could think of (He's coming home early!) But I would define that a little better than "cool" so I knew it had to be something different.

I was so glad to find out it was something he completely deserved and didn't change a thing for our lives but just proved how committed he is to being a soldier.

Well let my beaming self tell you what I found out!

Jason was awarded the Air Medal, a military decoration awarded for meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight!

AND it doesn't stop there (and this most special part) He also got the Valor device for acts of heroism!

He got to fly (himself) to Bagram Airfield to be awarded the Air Medal w/ Valor by the Army Chief of Staff GEN Dempsey. I had no idea who this was but from what Jason tells me he is a 4 Star general and the highest ranking person in the Army. (I'm thinking this guy is pretty important.)

I have said it before but my Jason is awesome. Simply awesome. He has always gone above and beyond his role as a daddy, husband, and breadwinner.

I got the explanation of the mission (illustrated on a napkin) that he was involved in to deserve this award at a quiet breakfast in a cafe together back when he was on r&r. Back then and now I am amazed at how strong and courageous he is day in and day out.

I just wanted to brag on my special guy and all he has accomplished overseas - other than staying alive! Here are a few pictures of the day and hopefully the professional ones will be posted soon too.

This is the medal he was awarded (with the Valor device) and the ribbon he will wear... (if I can ever get his class A's on him just to admire the handsome husband I landed!)

Jason- you amaze me with your bravery and your desire to make this world safer for our children and their children. Though this was such a wonderful honor - I was not surprised at all by it. You have lived a life committed to your Lord, your family and country; And for that I am the luckiest wife in the world.

However, since I know what it takes to get one of these medals, can we just stop here?? No More Please! Lets just get home safe.
