As a mom of four boys, I often question my parenting. Am I too strict, am I too lenient, am I too demanding, am I not spending enough time with them, should I allow this or that in our home??....etc.
Yesterday as I walked down the boys school hallway I was brought to tears when seeing something that confirmed I was doing SOMETHING right. Jason and I have tried for almost 6 years now to do a bedtime devotional with all the boys. And though there have been several skipped nights, we continue to do our nightly ritual and even sing a few songs together (lately- they have been Christmas songs!) There is nothing like one of the boys asking if I can sit on their bed during devotional time. Anyways, today I saw that there is something we talk about that is getting through to them. My oldest Parker made me the PROUDEST Momma when I saw this displayed in the school hallway.

It's the last sentence got me - " I feel happy, excited, and grateful for everything I have"
I guess teaching him about how the Lord provides for us and how fortunate we are is sticking!
Not only did that made my day- when Parker came home, he had a big blue first place ribbon. He had won the "best speller/reader" in all the 2nd grade (which I thought was funny since he misspelled "beautiful and chocolate" on his paper!).Plus he is now going to participate in the school's spelling bee. Talk about a proud momma!
Sorry for all the bragging on my kids- but he (and the other three) are pretty great! Here are a few pictures from each of their Christmas performances.

Banner singing(of course between 2 girls!)

Parker got to talk about their song selection...He said he felt cool like Justin Beiber with a microphone!

Hope everyone reading has a very Merry Christmas! We are headed to New Mexico to do some snow skiing with my family, and then our family Christmas (with a visit from Santa), and then we will have a week with Jason's family to celebrate! Lots of time and fun together along with our families - We
should feel grateful!
